Charcoal Peel Off Face Mask
- 1 teaspoon of activated charcoal
- 1/2 teaspoon bentonite clay
- 2 teaspoon xanthan gum
- 4-6 drops of tea tree oil
- 4 teaspoon boiling water
Remove your make up and use a gentle cleanser to clean your face. Add the charcoal to a small glass jar then add the bentonite clay & xanthan gum. Add boiling water and mix well with a spatula (avoid metal spoons as the metal may weaken the health properties of the bentonite clay). The xanthan gum with thicken up the mask. Add the tea tree oil and use a brush to apply a layer of the mask to the skin, avoiding the eye brows and be careful not to get it too close to the eyes. Apply the mask rather quickly as it will continue to thicken up. If it does thicken in the bowl sooner than you get to apply it, add another 1/2 to 1teaspoon of boiling water to make the mask liquid again so you can apply.
Leave it to dry for about 20-30 minutes, you may need to wait longer, depending on the thickness of the mask.
You will feel a slight tingling sensation, this is from the bentonite clay and tea tree oil, both help to remove impurities from the skin.
Once the mask is dry, start on an edge (chin or forehead) and slowly peel off the mask until it is completely gone. You can use a warm washcloth to remove any remaining mask on your face.
Apply a toner and then follow with a moisturiser to keep the skin nourished.
Activated Charcoal: absorbs toxins and build up on the skin and helps to naturally detoxify
Bentonite Clay: tightens and tones the skin and draws out impurities deep within the skin.
Xanthan Gum: helps to act as a binder in this recipe to draw out impurities, it is the key ingredient that make this mask peel off,
Tea Tree Essential Oil: clarifies the skin and keeps it clear and smooth
